Our History
FreeLee Foundation was formed April 4, 2016 when founder Keonna Freeman was motivated to give back, by improving communities throughout her native state of DE
From my own personal experiences as a black woman, a single mother, and a lesbian, remaining focused while overcoming stereotypes and judgments, most times without assistance or a support system, required harder work. There were criticisms in the past about who I was that sometimes became discouraging. However, I’ve always remained steadfast. I never lost sight of love and light. FreeLee Foundation was formed to help others like myself do the same. So, they don’t feel captive while trying to reach goals or simply live life. They should be able to do so freely. My desire is for people in our communities to learn without limits, live worry free, love free of judgement, and laugh, because it’s good for the soul. The word freely in our organization’s name was revised to “FreeLee,” to reflect my heritage (Freeman & Lee bloodline). |
